Descant Horns

Alexander 107 Modified Bb/F/Eb

Built in 1979 this Alexander Descant is a one of a kind.  The extra leadpipe changes the horn to a high Eb configuration, this modification was done by Alexander in Germany.   This horn has bronz rotors (not the Tryplen valves of old..) which are tight and have their full compression.

Only a couple very minor dings in the flare - otherwise it's in gorgeous condition as can be seen in the photos.

Alexander Flat case included.

Alexander 107GD

This gold brass Alexander 107 Descant has had one owner and is in good condition.   The compression is fabulous and there are now thin spots (the horn is all original).

The additional muting valve is great for those stopped Bb passages.

Alexander Descant model 107V

Alexander only made a handful of the model 107V and  it's an interesting design.  It's a compensating Bb/high F horn.  The bell is nickel  and I'm not certain if it's the bell that originally came with the horn (but it is an Alexander bell).  It's miniature size is perfect for standing gigs (think: Bach B Minor Mass).  The valves have fair compression, and the horn has minor dings throughout.  A real collector's item.

Hoyer Descant with Muting Valve

This is an unlacquered Descant Bb/F made by Hoyer.  It has a stopping/muting valve, adjustable mechanical linkages, and extra Amado Waterkeys.  This is about the least expensive descant I've yet seen on the market - and it plays like it costs much more!

Why spend thousands more when this one will do what you need!  Try it and see.  No case.

This Paxman 40A (American bore) was donated by Phil Myers to the Julliard School.  As with most Descants it did not recieve much use, and is in fine condition.  The 1st branch was stripped of lacquer at some point - but the horn is all original otherwise.  The valves are tight - this horn is ready to go for any Haydn Symphony!
